This horn has good compression, and it’s almost dent free. It comes with a fix bell case, a Protec flight case is offered for an extra $350. The Holton H281 Double French Horn is designed for both young and advanced players, offering a bold, resonant sound with flexible tuning options. Its Farkas wrap allows independent tuning of the F and Bâ™ sides, giving players more control over their intonation. The horn features a large 12¼” detachable bronze bell that delivers a darker, warmer tone, capable of wide dynamic range without becoming brassy at higher volumes. Built with brass branches and slide crooks, nickel silver slide tubes, and finished in clear lacquer, the H281 combines durability with refined aesthetics. Additional features include a mouthpipe water key, adjustable finger hook, and tapered rotors and bearings for smooth valve action. It comes equipped with a Holton-Farkas MDC mouthpiece and a CH279PUR flat case for secure transport.
