The 980N double french horn is an intermediate model boasting features found on horns that cost far more. Specifically, it has a precisely machined valve cluster and compression on par with high end European instruments. We spent the time doing compression test so you can see for yourself. With a nickel body and a Kruspe style wrap, the 980N double french horn has a Red/Gold brass tail and flare. The finger hook is adjustable and the change valve stop arm can be set to stand in either F or Bb.
This instrument comes lacquered but can be customized upon request. If requested, we can remove the lacquer as most professionals in the USA play unlacquered horns. Removing the lacquer is an involved and multi-step process resulting in a slightly higher price. An unlacquered horn will develop a beautiful patina over time, a naturally occurring oxidation. We recommend to not polish the horn since this layer of surface oxidation protects the metal underneath. See our Lacquer Removal page for more information.
Made of nickel and gold brass with a Lawson/Alexander compatible ringset, comes with a backpack-style flight case. (2460g/5.43lbs)
